Learn how the Children’s Tumor Foundation was able to transition to a virtual event portfolio in 2020 and achieve fundraising and awareness success during the pandemic through an enhanced partnership between the Development and Marketing teams. Innovation and strategic event planning were critical, while strong volunteer engagement and donor stewardship were key drivers for fundraising and participation in a challenging year.

Barbara Gallagher

Vice President, Development, Children's Tumor Foundation

Barbara Gallagher is Vice President, Development of the Children’s Tumor Foundation (CTF). Her responsibilities include overseeing the organization’s national peer to peer fundraising programs and corporate development. Prior to joining CTF in 2018, Barbara served as the National Director of Philanthropy for Alliance for Cancer Gene Therapy (ACGT), where she managed all development activities, including: individual giving, special events, annual appeal, and their partnership with Swim Across America. From 2008-2016, Barbara worked at The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society in a variety of roles regionally and locally for the Westchester/Hudson Valley and New York City Chapters with her primary focus on the Light The Night Walks and the Pennies for Patients campaigns. Barbara currently resides in New York with her family.

Michele Przypyszny

Chief Advancement Officer, Children’s Tumor Foundation

Michele Pryzypyszny is the Chief Advancement Officer of the Children’s Tumor Foundation, overseeing all fundraising and development programs for the organization. With more than 25 years of experience in nonprofit management and fundraising, Michele’s prior roles include: Vice President of Principal Gifts at the New York Academy of Sciences; Executive Director of New York City Chapter of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s; and Executive Director of the Greater New York Chapter of the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation of America. Michele was also the founding CEO of the Young Survival Coalition. Michele loves to bring together staff, Boards, donors and organization domestically and internationally for a common cause and believes you can make the impossible possible.

Rebecca Taylor

Senior Development Manager, Children’s Tumor Foundation

Rebecca Taylor is the Senior Manager of the Shine a Light Walk program for the Children’s Tumor Foundation (CTF) and a passionate fundraiser committed to the goal of ending neurofibromatosis. Prior to working for CTF, Rebecca was a Senior Director of the Walk program for the American Heart Association in Texas. She and her family recently relocated back to her hometown near San Antonio where she created a Hospice Foundation for the area hospital to fund critical needs for the families whose loved ones are under Hospice care. Rebecca believes that personal relationships are the key to any successful development program and nothing outweighs the power of communication with your constituents. In her free time, she is a busy mother of 4, avid cook and can’t wait to get back to attending live music venues next year!

Simon Vukelj

Chief Marketing Officer, Children’s Tumor Foundation

Simon Vukelj is Chief Marketing Officer of the Children’s Tumor Foundation, leading the organization’s marketing, communications, and advocacy initiatives. He and his team have driven the Foundation’s transformation into a globally recognized brand, linking scientific innovation and impact to powerful patient stories and compelling donor and volunteer engagement. His focus is on delivering outstanding customer experiences across all channels, infused with exceptional creativity and an emphasis on building awareness, loyalty and support for the Children’s Tumor Foundation mission to End NF. Simon leads the strategic development of the Foundation’s efforts in public affairs, media relations, internal, external, corporate, and crisis communications, data and technology, consumer, constituent and business insights, digital and traditional multichannel and partnership marketing, content development, social media, global outreach, brand positioning, and creative direction. Prior to joining the Children’s Tumor Foundation, Simon served in communications leadership positions at some of the world’s most famous companies/brands, including Pepsi, Random House, and the American Heart Association. He holds a degree in economics and political science from Yale University, has served as a board member of a major New York area hospital, volunteers for several community organizations, and is working on a book about his grandfather’s role during World War 2.
