Samaritan HouseFor 50 years, Samaritan House has been leading the fight against poverty in San Mateo County. They are the only organization that delivers essential services and personalized support to connect the people living in poverty among us to the full range of resources and services they need. More than just ensuring their clients are fed, clothed, healthy, and housed, they help them create their own stability and remain an active, successful part of the community. As a professionally led, volunteer-supported, and client-centered organization, Samaritan House is focused on lifting everyone they serve out of poverty. They work closely with their partners to provide basic services and address clients’ unique and complex needs to help them achieve financial independence. Samaritan House has been a client of JMT since January 2015.
Ascendus is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering underserved entrepreneurs, particularly women and people of color, to build thriving businesses. They provide access to capital, business education, and personalized support, helping these entrepreneurs overcome systemic barriers and achieve economic mobility. Ascendus focuses on communities often overlooked by traditional financial institutions, fostering economic inclusion and creating sustainable pathways to success. Ascendus has been a client of JMT since July 2020.
Family GatewayFamily Gateway is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded by Mayor Pro-Tem Annette G. Strauss in 1986. They provide stability and life-changing supportive services to families with children experiencing or near homelessness in Dallas and Collin Counties in Texas. They are the leading agency in addressing family homelessness in their community and serve as the entry point for families seeking assistance. Services they provide include assessments to determine what interventions a family needs, creative solutions to avoid a shelter experience (e.g., eviction prevention), emergency shelter, supportive housing, general and vocational case management, and education programming. Family Gateway has been a client of JMT since September 2019.
William T. Grant FoundationThe William T. Grant Foundation focuses on improving the lives of young people in the United States. They fund research that aims to reduce inequality in youth outcomes and improve the use of research evidence in policy and practice. Essentially, they support studies that help make a positive difference in the lives of children and adolescents, particularly those from disadvantaged backgrounds. The Williams T. Grant Foundation has been a client of JMT since June 2017.
